Background

The Center for the Study of Aphasia Recovery (C-STAR) at the University of South Carolina is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals recovering from stroke and living with the language disorder of aphasia. The center conducts critical clinical research on language recovery, offers a wide range of community programs, and provides support to stroke survivors and their families. The Carolina Agency has partnered with C-STAR for several years, supporting its mission through creative storytelling and multimedia content that educates and engages with audiences.

Primary Goals

Primary Goals

Our primary focus was to strengthen C-STAR’s online presence by creating engaging content that reflects the center’s impactful work and tight-knit community. We aimed to increase awareness of C-STAR’s resources, promote participation in research and recovery programs, and enhance one's understanding of aphasia. We also sought to create strong, recognizable branding across platforms and deliver content that could be repurposed for ongoing outreach efforts. A key component throughout our long-standing partnership with C-STAR is accessibility, ensuring that all content is inclusive and user-friendly for audiences affected by language disorders.

Over our multi-year engagement, The Carolina Agency developed a comprehensive content strategy for C-STAR that combined video production, social media content creation and design. We have created short-form and long-form videos and interactive reels featuring ambassadors and recovery participants to highlight C-STAR’s mission, programs and recovery resources. Through ongoing collaboration, TCA continues to help C-STAR build out educational tools on its website to inform the public about its initiatives and empower the aphasia community.
